Tfl are a bunch of thieving ripoff bastards...As I understand (I've been using an Oyster card for a while now which is priced differently to cash tickets), single, cash fares are charged about £4 in each direction, so in this instance, picking up the travelcard for £5.60 (which I believe is the regular price, not necessarily any special price) is the winnar.
