@HalfyGet onto the RICS - Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors - as soon as you can.
They are a VERY stringent organisation and take incompetence on the part of their members extremely seriously indeed.

EDIT - It's the surveyor's job to ensure that he/she is surveying the correct plot, regardless of plot reference changes.
