Don't worry too muchUnder employment law these days they HAVE to advertise and interview any post. The days of getting a job on the nod are over in educational establishments.
And she has to tell you you may not get it to cover the schools arse. If word got out that you were lined up for the job, the other candidates would be able to sue the school into a glowing heap of embers!
Your Boss shouldn't have implied that the post was yours, (sounds like the schools HR have put her straight) but she obviously thinks a lot of you so.
Apply, give it your best, and you should get it.
