1991, King Khalid International Airport, Riyadh - KSA.
The air alarm has gone off; there's a Scud inbound from Iraq. , sayeth the relevant part of the Edanatomy.
I'm outside of the building, in the car park for the airport for some reason (can't remember why; think I may have been on guard duty). We've all jumped into our noddy suits, put on our respirators, got our rifles / submachine guns and helmets on expecting to become victims of Saddam such as the villagers in Hallabjah (if you're of a nervous disposition do NOT follow this link jcdurbant.blog.lemonde.fr/files/gassed_kurds_3.thumbnail.jpg).
Just then a Saudi gentleman, in dishdasha, gutra and thobe walks past me on the way to his car and gently, softly says "Salaam", with a smile.
