I'd recommend you go reading the works of P J O'Rourke on immigrants, specifically his references to the refugees from Cuba washing up on Florida beaches - to whit, if these people are courageous enough to attempt to cross the waters in a little raft with no guarantee - hell, these are the kind of people that the US wants.
