My babies have gone!
My class have gone!

Term has ended and because I didn't get my job there I won't be there to see them next term.

I know I have bitched about them but they were nearly all in tears at the end.
Most of them got me presents, which were mainly chocolate. That, and the 6 weeks holiday, will help me recover.

Aw, they must like you if they got you presents
Are they little kids? I'm getting the vibe that you're one of the good ones, aware of the role you play in their lives. Dunno why I'm so fluffy today. My nephew got a good report from school today. Maybe it's that.

No, they are 9 - 10
well all 10 by now.

I think the reason they were so upset was that I am not going to be there next year.

I feel I play such an important role in their lives. One of my class has just gone into care, which I had to play a part in.
I think it was really for the better that he has now got away from his abusive alcoholic mother.

Awww!
My mum used to teach special needs, and the number of ex-pupils that turned up at her funeral was amazing!

So many of them wrote in their cards
things like "I will never forget you"

The funny thing is that I was talking today to some people who were in my class in primary school and I can't remember any of it.
I'm sure most of them will forget me.

They won't
I had a teacher who claimed she wasn't fond of children. She sometimes shouted and used phrases that would get her sacked in these pc times. On a day-to-day basis, however, she had such a warm heart, and a way of tailoring things in order to ignite the interest of the less able kids, without patronising the academically keen. She secretly helped the poor kids too. We ALL sobbed when we left.

Maybe so, MrsL,
but it's people like you who teach our kids or our kids kids and later on in life they'll say "yeah, I had a teacher called MrsL and she was awesome, I wish I could tell her that". And you'll never hear it, but KNOW, just KNOW that you have made a difference :)
