Just seen on my brother's facebook thing
that he has bought new alloy wheels for his girlfriend's car. that already had perfectly decent alloy wheels on it. shortly after he has moved house by borrowing a significant wedge of cash from his girlfriend's parents.

I'm fairly sure it's not jealousy that I'm experiencing here, but I'm feeling pretty angry that he's blowing money on pointless expensive shit shortly after getting a hand out to move house, when my gf and I have worked hard to get where we are without any help from anyone.

Am I justified in this anger? or should I just fuck off.

that is kind of beside the point though. If I had asked for and received help then I wouldn't have spent what will ultimately amount to around £800 on something completely pointless. It's not like their new house isn't in need of a shitload of work.

edit: another salient point is that we didn't need help to that degree because we bought something within reach.

other than the fact that my brother has always been a bit of a dick. He's very materialistic, and while reasonably good with money, he does tend to buy an awful lot of very expensive and pointless stuff. Most of the time I just shake my head and have a chuckle, but this is quite an extreme example.

I'm unsure how I feel about mine
he is a good guy, and I get on with him well. But a lot of the time he is a complete dick. He must be pretty different in private with his missus, because he acts like quite the cunt to her in public. Not nastiness or anything, but putting her done a bit and stuff.

I also can't erase from my mind that from as early as I can remember, until I went to university, he was a complete cunt to me all the time.

It's all quite conflicting.

I feel slightly better because I've stolen some of his friends to be in my band, and they choose to hang out with me and my mates more than him.

It does sound like you're a little conflicted.
Your brother does sound like a bit of a prat so your feelings are probably justified. On the other hand he’s family and that’s what cases problems because you're sort of duty bound to love him... Booooo I say!!

he is very helpful, and usually pleasant

the very worst thing though, is that when we go surfing I'm much much better at it when he isn't around. No idea why. If I go with anyone else I'm one standard, and if I go with him I'm considerably worse.
