All I have to say on the above subject
(the emo fluff versus subversive comedy one, not the Bruce Forsyth pakis one) is that out of all the QOTW answers I've written, it's the emo ones that got the most clicks and responses. The evidence speaks for itself.

Yes I prefer to read the funny, don't we all, but there's something in all of us that responds to the emotional stuff (even if it's just "thank fuck it's not me").

The nature of QOTW, as somebody else said, where we share stuff that frankly we wouldn't always tell our closest friends, means of course there's some emo in with the funny. Er, just like real life... Trying to force it to be one thing or another is pointless. It just is what it is.
