Makes you reasonable and not sucked in by stupid traditionsI did my wedding "on the cheap" and a brilliant day was had by all. I didn't bother with flowers, photographer, banquet, nothing. Just a short ceremony and a massive party. Just to give you an idea of just how awesome it was, we finished at 9am the next day.
On the other hand, I do slightly regret the photographer thing because the only image memories I have of my day are tonnes of drunken photos including a series of various mates rubbing their nipples.
