Here, curry powder is about all you can get
without paying through the fucking nose for the jars of paste (hey, I'm on a budget!) - they're about $15 a jar and the curry powder is about $6 and lasts around six times longer.
It was actually really tasty - the cream of mushroom soup added the "creaminess" to it. I was too lazy to go to the store so experimented with what I had in my cupboard. I would give it 7/10.

Also, to go to an Indian restaurant, to get a curry, rice, naan bread is around $25 a head.

Edit: Also, to buy the proper spices is around $10 per jar of spice, and it takes forever to make it that way.

Bravo to you
You are obviously young and inexperienced, so keep experimenting with what you can afford. Maybe one day you will come up with the new taste sensation. Until then keep at it.

PS Try making another human being eat it, if they don't hurl you may consider that a success.

That's not cheap.
Why's that? Is it expensive to import spices to the states? Or do they prefer their food deep-fried with mayo?

....by any chance?

sounds likely to me
fuck me, if there's ever any reason not to move to the states it's because you can't get a good curry for a reasonable price, nor make your own.

I was taken to a pretty good Indian in New York
but you could tell that they don't have the love affair with curry that we do. It was fearfully expensive (thank Christ I wasn't paying) and my friend and his parents (a cultured bunch) hadn't a fucking clue about any of the dishes.

My chum asked 'is this hot?' about one of the dishes.

'For you, yes - for your English friend, no' came the bizarrely gratifying answer.
