I'm not seeing my parents this year, same as last year.
The excuse is "can't get the time off work" when the real reason is "I will be comatose under the tree on Baileys, Toilet Duck and whatever is to hand shortly after the arrival of the extended family and it would make a terrible mess on the carpet". I'm not sure even my mother would email my boss to complain I never get any time off, but I may have to pre-warn him...

Christmas stopped being fun when I was 18 or so - the first year of uni I was expecting the spirit to hit me about this time, and it never did. It's never returned.
