I'm no more irresponsible
than any other group of bikers you see out on a weeked jaunt. I don't speed in areas that have an actual number on the speed limit sign, only where it says national speed limit. The chances of me hurting someone else on a road like that are slim, I'm miles more likely to harm myself, and that's a risk I'm willing to take (and so are many othe bikers, it's what makes us feel alive by being so close to death).

That attitude stinks.
The fact that you're even slightly irresponsible while riding a heavy, powerful machine like that astounds me. What makes you think your chances of hurting someone else are slim? Just because you've got a better chance of maiming yourself doesn't make it ok. I understand your reasoning and like a bit of adrenaline myself but if you tear around on roads doing more than the speed limit you're going to end up fucking yourself up, and you'll be lucky if you don't fuck someone else up too. If it's not someone in another vehicle it'll be your family, or the fireman who has to scrub your blood off the road. I hope I'm wrong but I've seen a fair number of accidents involving bikes and more than half involved another vehicle.

I'm fully aware this isn't an argument I can win.

No you can't, lol
Mainly cos I do this stuff with my dad who's been biking since he was 16, so it's not even like I have disapproving parents
