I love it when you find things you wrote when you were younger and get really embarrassed! Hehe

I've tried to actually write a song but they come out terrible

and I can't get anywhere with it. my brain won't accept anything other than lyrical perfection, and yet is unable to provide it.
I stick to music instead

If someone writes chords I can be interesting with melody and lyrics, but actually writing a song from nothing I CAN'T DO.
My ex is a prize nutter and it's such a shame because we wrote ace stuff and even won a couple of songwriting things in local clubs. We had very few friends so it was genuine recognition!

count as making music? if it does, then i have 'made music'. Just jam for a while, loading in drum patterns, 303 melodies/squeals etc, then press record and start the ball rolling. It's excellent fun, however, the results can sound a tad repetative and samey, but sometimes dance music IS like that.
Then I think about knocking out one of those crappy hard house tracks, with the constant 4x4, cymbals and snare, fire in a 'soaring' female vocal, get the chipmunk filter onto it and thats it, job done!.

without the music - I've only ever made up riffs and soloed. The idea of a properly-structured song makes my head hurt. Hell, I'm impressed by The Ramones...

none recorded unfortunately, but mostly I make up second guitar parts, and solo while making faces
