Use it to your advantage
By being considered both Northern and Southern, you get to pick and choose what you consider yourself.

For example, I'm English by birth but Scottish based on where I grew up and my parentage is also a 50/50 split.
When I was growing up in Scotland I was considered the English one but when I went to uni in York I was considered to be very much a Scot.

Now I get to play on it - I own and semi-regularly wear a kilt but can justify wearing boxers underneath (if I want) by saying it's 'cos I'm English.
I get to call my English mates poncy southern bastards when I feel like taking the piss, despite the fact I was born in Surrey and am technically much more southern than the rest of them.

Ok, so these are not the greatest of perks, nor can I think of how you'd be able to use your situation in quite the same way but just have fun with it.

As for nicknames, I was called 'Shrek' for three years and still am by some people (no, not because I resemble Wayne Rooney, because of my accent).
