that I will be saving the planet if I just take it all to the tip for landfill. Because the amount of energy being consumed in trying to recyle, reuse, rehome and just goddam think about my houseful of stuff would be more than offset.
Every weekend I've taken at least one car load to the local charity shop (last time they saw me coming and said "we're going to stop opening on saturdays"). I've freecycled some larger items successfully, some less so. The other day I threw away a bin bag FULL of toiletries.
This is what happens when you live in the same house and hoard for 15 years and then decide to move to Ireland where you can only take stuff that will fit in a car on one ferry journey, unless you happen to have the £300 per trip to hump the stuff across the sea...
I'm losing patience with it, along with the will to live. Stuff traps you. It's stuff or freedom, you can't have both.
