Bit late I knowBut I can't find any reason why the father is unfit. If something happened to my wife I would raise Akira alone, there's no way social services would take her. There has to be so much more to it than "mild learning difficulties"
*edit* I found a video interview with them and what ever is wrong with her it's a lot more than mild learning difficulties and wouldn't let her be a lone parent and I sort of agree on the marriage issue. I still don't know why the father can't look after the baby though.
