That happened to me once.
It was under the bed (bare floorboards) and I was downstairs with visitors. Suddenly there was a godawful noise like someone was trying to saw through the floor with a blunt chainsaw. Everyone looked terrified. This was not helped by my discovering that the noise had been caused by the vibrator setting itself off and bouncing across the floor like an out of control jackhammer.
