Really though.Explain to the pub gossip that you honestly didn't realise he was so sensitive about his teeth and that he won't accept your apology.
Act contrite and upset (even though you're not) and ask for their help. That is if you do wish to sort it out. Which I wouldn't.
He is yet another loopo ex-cop. There are shitloads of them, I know a few.
