reading this "I had to take her to hospital to be glued back together" I had a very strange mental image.
Best surfing injury ever was my mate Smithy running back up to the car with board underarm but not having released his safety line which caught on the top step at Puttsborough catapaulting him down to the bottom.

the injuries I have experience with have been a bit horrific tbh.
My old colleague got a fin across her face, slashed up her cheek, over her eye and up her forehead. Escaped without a scar.
another mate of mine had an experience almost exactly the same. Brand new razor sharp fins, slashed his cheek right open. Took them 4 hours to sew him up again.

his missus rushes back in the tent to get her bag, trips, putting all her weight on the back of the tent which pulled the guide ropes out and *PING* *SLASH* *AAAAARRRGH* he dropped like a bastard with blood pissing out between his fingers.

If you're going to have a scar you at least want a story of heroic derring-do about how you got it.
Like the one I have on the middle digit of my left hand, from bravely opening a tin of tomato soup. There were no easy ring pull tops or electric can openers back in those days. Yeah, hardcore.

from vaulting a spiked fence to retrieve a frisbee.
Sorry, from bravely fighting off a knife-wielding thug who was mugging a lovely old granny. WIth my bare hands. Yeah. That was definitely it.
