The UK has a similar level of state sponsored surveillance together with seriously inadequate privacy laws as places like Russia, North Korea and China.

I've already got the tag for your car, that backs up the ANPR camera system, that cross-references with your mobile talking to your nearest cell, that cross-references with your Tesco sodding Clubcard. I know where you are, what you're doing, and what brand of razor blades you use (and with the nanotags, I can tell you that they're on the left hand side of the bathroom cabinet).
