I've been cycling to work on and off for 18 years. I also walk and once in a while drive a largish V8 coupe. There are cycle paths throughout this fair city and most of them are in fair condition but could stand some repairs. So what does our addle brained government do when some cyclists started kicking up a stink? Narrows the lanes on roads designed right from the start for cars so that cycle lanes can be placed on the edges. Parallel, fer gawds sake with the existing cycle paths over multi- kilometre distances. Complete and utter wankery. Most cyclists have enough sense not to use them. Who wants to be passed by heavy trucks doing 80kph (50mph) at a range of three metres? The air blast could knock you off your bike.

And to those in the Lycra clown suits. The public cycle and foot paths are not the route of the Tour de France.
