Why have people forgotten this? What happened to hiring babysitters? Or just not going?

I didn't take my kids to any of those kinds of places until they were well behaved enough to not disturb other patrons. It is not as difficult as you would think to train a toddler how to behave. I had mine restraunt-friendly by the time they were 3 & 4. Just start practicing early and know their limits. Not only have I never had a tacky look from another customer, but I have actually had other patrons stop by my table to compliment my children's behavior.
