they're the only people I ever meet who consider that an acceptable pastime worth putting all their effort into, find something/one that's interesting, well done, cool or happy, spend huge amounts of energy and time trying to fuck it up for them, bask in the glory of your 'power'.

Best thing you can do is just ignore them, showing any sign whatsoever of having been affected by them will only delight and encourage more.
