This is a question Phobias

What gives you the heebie-jeebies?

It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*

Tell us what innocent things make you go pale, wobbly and send shivers down your spine.

hoovers
I'm scared of the hoover. It makes a really loud noise, and when I turn it on I have to creep up behind it, press the button, and run a little way away until I get used to the noise. Then I can use it. If something gets stuck in it and the noise starts getting louder I have to run away.

A couple of weeks ago this resulted in the inside of the hoover catching on fire.

wow
me too. I was systematically desensitised by a family member when the family got sick of it. The bitch loved the whole session.

sounds like a good way of getting out of doing the cleaning though

Alternative solution
Turn the hoover on, but don;t plug it in. Then extend the cord so it is at it's full capacity and you are miles away from the hoover. Then plug the hoover in and turn the plug on. Hey presto, no need to shit yourself at its hoovery evilness.

My housemate at uni had the same problem and that's how we got round it. Well, that and never hoovering as we were skanky students.
