What gives you the heebie-jeebies?
It's a bit strong to call this a phobia, but for me it's the thought of biting into a dry flannel. I've no idea why I'd ever want to or even get the opportunity to do so, seeing as I don't own one, but it makes my teeth hurt to think about it. *ewww*
Tell us what innocent things make you go pale, wobbly and send shivers down your spine.

not stairs in general, just certain types.
the ones that have no risers between the steps. if i can see through the stairs to what is below, i feel dizzy and sick. i avoid these sort of stairs at all costs.
when walking down stairs, i absolutely must be able to hang on to the handrail or again, i get dizzy and disoriented. i also need to look down at the steps as i go.
i'm not real fond of spiral staircases either. fire drill evacuations in the office are a nightmare for me. the constant change of direction as we make our way down the stairs makes it seem like a spiral and the need to look where i'm putting my feet slows me down. 18 flights of utter despair for me.

you have just described me and stairs to a T.
I once almost go stuck on the Eiffel Tower - I was walking down the steps between 2 floors. The stairs had no backs, had holes in them and were spiral - I couldn't breath and had palpitations - I was so darned scared!!

i am not the only one.
i've just remembered that i paid good money to climb a tower at one of the colleges at oxford and had to give up after a one turn of the spiral stairs.
if either of you ever come to sydney, you probably wont want to do the bridgeclimb (climbing up over the arch of the sydney harbour bridge) - no risers and metal grille steps and walkways - you see all the way back down to the harbour with every step!! eek!
