Yes, novelty socks, cufflinks or any other novelty clothing is despicable.But as the OP was regarding sartorial codes for the well-dressed gentleman, I would be inclined to ignore denim trousers, what what?

Well since I am aRoyal Navy Midshipman, I have a fondness for the double-breasted ones. In fact I recently acquired some peculiarly splendid buttons for it.
