I know the staff are trying to be helpful, but I view the paying in machines as taking someone's job. Same for the self service checkouts in supermarkets.
I never use them for this reason.
Over Christmas I have never seen so many people complaining at the local bank I used, and my local supermarket has loads of self service now and noticeably less staff. :(
