Don't beat yourself up over it.
I don't believe it was prejudice per se, more of an act of fear drummed into our heads by the media.

There was aplace over in america than reported in the morning news the local terror alert for the day. This wasnt even a major city. WTF would a terrorist (if they do even exist) want with a small town with a population less than 100k?
People were genuinely scared though.
