Recruitment consultants.
Scum, pure unadulterated scum. Essentially they lie their asses off to get you into the job knowing full well that you'll only realise they've lied when you are proper stuck in a hell hole job, and they are sat there drinking Pimms getting blown by the new office temp who they placed in that role so they get the commission off that placement too, so the BJ is technically paying for itself.

I almost hate them more than the Mum Rabbit from Peppa Pig who seems to have 30 different jobs in the same town.

Yes!
A thousand times YES! These heartless, backstabbing, money-grabbing, waste's of a condom should be cast into a pit of eternally pointy things and made to stay there until they feel at least HALF of the torture inflicted upon their 'clients' (of which I am, formerly, one). These spineless weasels deserve nothing but misery for all of their days in my opinion. What's worse is that when things invariably DO go tits up the badger-fondler's develop 'Out of the office' disease. Bastards.

It's worse than that
They're fucking useless from an employer's perspective too. They don't actively seek out anything, simply send you whoever they've got on their books who remotely matches your job spec.

I have absolutely no idea why employers ever use them - they should advertise directly (it's easy enough with all the jobs websites out there these days, and was even easier when it was all done in the local paper/trade press). The couple of hours you spend trawling through unsuitable CVs is more than compensated by their comedy value, you still get to see the same 5 people who are any good (because as well as waiting for agencies to do their job, they also apply for jobs directly) that you'd actually want to interview.

And then once they filled your job, they leave the advert on their websites for months and months afterwards just to try to keep luring prospective employees onto their books under false pretences.

I once (in more naive days) spent nearly £2500 on "executive recruitment consultants" who promised to "put me in touch with the unadvertised jobs market". Their solution was that I contacted companies directly rather than waiting for them to advertise a job. FFS, for £2500 I want YOU to deal with all the applications shit and let me know when to turn up for the interviews you're going to get me. Fucking lazy tossers.

Recruiters
I am one, but I still hate recruiters.

I freely admit that 99% are feckless mouth breathers that wouldn't know their arse from their elbow, however there are a few of us around that know what they are doing.

If they are IT recruiters, and you want a laugh ask them a few specific technical questions and see them stumble over random bullshit jargon that they don't actually understand :)

Definitely top of my list
Seems impossible to find a job in IT without going through an agency nowadays though.
