I enjoyed reading your post about teachers
The tone and vitriol of this and your other posts about managers and recruitment consultants certainly indicate your dislikes. You hate the people who put you in your job, you hate the people who manage you in your job and you hate the people who have a job you deem to have better conditions, benefits and perks.
I am a teacher. I start at 9. I finish at 3. I get a 15 minute break and a 50 minute lunch. Despite what you say about moaning teachers in your post I have fantastic career prospects. The type of school I work in means I have very little pressure and next year I get a £5k pay jump. Of course you hate us.
PS, you mentioned how we walk out of Uni and into a £25k job. Well, if you pro rata it out over the year and take into account holidays it is nearer £32k ;-)
As for my most hated profession, I would have to say sales. As a thick, self righteous moaning bastard teacher I cant turn down the cheeky chappy types who attempt to sell me whatever tat their company unleashes on the world. Simply because, like a tu’penny ha’penny whore, I just cant say no.

Clearly
you didn't enjoy the vitriol....
Smugness is now added to my list of reasons to dislike teachers.
Having lived with one for two years and been to many teachers social events I feel my negative opinions are justified based on my experience.
You must be one of the wily ones that doesn't whine and moan. Not to be trusted.

nice post. To each their own. I know some really dispicable teachers. I also know despicable software engineers and despicable call centre workers. All joking aside i am fairly sure i am one of the few semi sane teachers in the uk. Even before going into teaching a lot of them struck me as a bit odd. I am married to a teacher so i encountered a fair few of them.
It is a simple quality of life issue. I used to work in ict sales and was always chasing the money. The last place i worked, a company that sounded like hell, the top earner for the year brought in just over £105k. I salivated at the thought of something comparable being in store for me. But then i realised 2 things.
1. That guy was in the office 12-14 hours a day, 6 days a week and probably spent half his earnings on tums and pepto.
2. My newborn son was more important.
Queue voluntary unemployment, another £5k in student loans and going from a successful career to being a whipping boy on placement for one of the old school nutjob types to whom i assume most of the above posts refer to.
I am now in a rewarding job in a school for the physically and mentally impaired. I get to go to the park with my son on weeknights and i am home in time to give my baby daughter her last two feeds.
I dont miss the cut and chase of sales.
Is it just me or does this qotw promote sweeping generalisations based on a persons limited exposure to people in a certain profession. What fun. Next week, your most hated ethnicity.
On the other hand, i fucking hate lawyers.

of course
being a teacher, you'd know that in this context, it's "Cue" not "Queue". The former denotes triggers, the latter is a line of waiting people.
And speaking of people; People, please don't feed the trolls.

yawn
you failed to mention that the first sentence of my post wasnt capitalised. If you are going to be a pedantic grammar nazi you should really look before you leap judging from your capitalisation
I actually liked thefinch's post, hence the click. Maybe that is what makes me a troll. Or may'be its' my punc;tuation and speling. Or maybe because i offered my opinion on this week's question which i feel is a bit of a downer in comparison to last week.
Whatever it is, i am jacking teaching and taking up acting. I am sure there is a part for someone of my description in the new hobbit movie.

If Grammar Nazi was a profession....
I would hate them most of all. We all have office software, when writing a letter or document we will make sure the grammar and spelling are correct. This is a bulletin board, get over yourself trying to correct the whole world just because it doesn't read properly.
Grammar Nazis can shove their extra apostrophe up their arse for nothing and fuck off whilst they are doing it.

I'm sorry
I didn't mean to be nasty.
If it helps, I was tired, had a bit of a cold, and was slightly tipsy; i certainly failed my own rules of thinking before posting.
I'm tempted to delete the offending post, as a courtesy; but I've been pulled up for doing that before.

I wish more of them
were like you.
I must also admit that this one teacher really queered the pitch for everyone else in my eyes. Frankly she was a bully.

Close, very close.
1. I hate recruitment consultants because I started in a position as one around 10 years ago, with a highly respected firm, and managed to stick it out for a month before needing to cleanse my soul. I felt dirty with ever deal I closed. My Mrs also used to work as a senior admin for another firm and she used to tell me that nothing has changed. Everyone I have ever known who I have ever known who has worked in recruitment has been morally flexible. I myself have never been placed anywhere by a recruitment consultant.
2. In my current job I actually get all the perks I listed and more, with a considerably larger basic and commission package. And I walked out of Uni straight into a 25K job 14 years ago. ; )
3. You hit the nail on the head with manager hatred though. Good shot.
It's just the self riteous moaning I don't like. Next time you are in the staff room, have sit down in the corner and just have a little listen. It's like tinnitus, you don't notice it at first but as soon as you are made aware of existence you can never ignore it again. Like Roddy Piper in They Live, put on the shades and see for the first time.

i have to put my hands up at this point
and admit that i avoid the staff room like the plague.
Its full of fucking teachers.
I prefer to sit in my room and catch up with the news on google or indulge in a good book.
A few of my colleagues were caught overseas when the ashcloud of doom struck. On spent a week extra in italy and moaned everyones fucking face off when she found out she wasnt getting paid for it. I made a point of going to the staff room that day. Best fun i have had in ages.
In terms of moaniness amongst teachers i find that age plays a big factor. As soon as the hit forty the world turns against them.
