Yes they're (shock horror!) working for money. Sometimes, but not always, they're employed through an agency. I'm not sure though that I can see any difference between street fundraisers and the countless other people employed by charities (either directly or though an external contract).

If you don't want to speak to them or give any money then that's fine. I usually find a handshake, a smile and a firm 'no thank you, but have a nice day' usually suffices as a rejection of their patter. I just think it's a bit unfair though to object to them on any kind of ethical grounds.

...I tried it once, they can only accept direct debit info.
