That story's been doing the rounds of philosophy for ages.I think I've heard it in relation to Quine and Cavell, but can't be sure.

IndeedIt's here, too: 192.220.96.201/two-positives.html . I think I first read it in the Guardian Saturday magazine about 20 years ago. Still makes me laugh though (although admittedly not as much as FENTON!!!!!).
