Lost in TranslationFauz pas caused by not speaking another language. My wife is Spanish and when I first met her parents they put on a very nice lunch. I spoke no spanish at the time and got by with pointing, laughing and drinking too much. At the end of the meal my mother-in-law-to-be asked if I'd enjoyed the meal. My wife-to-be translated. I stood up and declared, "That was such a nice meal I'm goig to go back to my room and masdurbate!". I smiled and left the table. The problem..? My wife-to-be mentioned the Spanish word for "masdurbate" is... "masdurbate". How would you feel if your youngest daughters boyfriend had called your lovingly prepared meal wank?
We're still married. My in-laws don't speak to me. I like this arrangement.
