This is a question Question of the Week suggestions

Each week we ask a question. The idea is to generate material that's:

* interesting to read, i.e. we won't get bored of reading the answers after about 10 of them
* not been asked on this site before
* fun to answer

What would you like to ask? (We've left this question open - so feel free to drop in ideas anytime.)

Courtroom, more like a circus
I've just finished a two week stint on jury service, despite my reservations it's been a real laugh, some dodgy case of domestic abuse that was like a 6 hour jeremy kyle without the adverts and the bloke behind me sleeping through most of the case.

I'm sure that whether on the jury, as a witness or in the dock there are some good courtroom tales

I did jury service a few years back
in an assault case where the weapon was a cricket bat that had been cut down so kids could use it. At the end when they decide what to do with the evidence, the judge asked "and what about the sawn off cricket bat?"

I was in there once
They dragged the questions out so much I got confused. I pleaded 'Guilty' to the question I was told to plead 'Not Guilty' to.
The Judge then asked again so I answered 'Not Guilty'. Turns out he's asked a different question that sounded the same to me and I was supposed to have answered 'Guilty'.
I looked like a right idiot. I looked over to my dad who's a copper and he was just pissing himself in the corner.
The judge knew what I was trying to say anyway.
