Faux pas fuck upI once spent New Year's Eve at a girlfriend's grandparent's house with her and her extended family (it was as exciting as it sounds). Near to midnight, we all buggered off over the road to go and see some OAP friends for a drink.
After several glasses of our host's finest bubbly, we all trouped out the front door wishing them well and good health etc for the New Year. As I've been brung up proper, like, I offered my hand to warmly shake the host's hand and thank him for his hospitality.
It was then that I realised that he had no arm. So I shook his stump. Everyone saw.

I always say 'have a nice day' to just about everyone I see, not exactly sure why but it turned into quite a habit.
A year or two ago I was at the funeral of a friend of mine's dad, afterwards we were invited to a lunch with most of his family. We were sat at the same table as his mother & aunts. When I left I said "well, you know, have a nice day"... they had just buried their husband & brother. I never felt so bad in my life...
