This is a question Question of the Week suggestions

Each week we ask a question. The idea is to generate material that's:

* interesting to read, i.e. we won't get bored of reading the answers after about 10 of them
* not been asked on this site before
* fun to answer

What would you like to ask? (We've left this question open - so feel free to drop in ideas anytime.)

Proper Job Satisfaction
Following this week's suggestion by Daz, how about those jobs that you've had and loved because they give real job satisfaction. Not the piss-easy sit-on-your-arse-reading-b3ta-and-being-paid jobs, but the ones where you feel you're doing something worthwhile.
My missus is a nurse. She bitches and whinges no end about the NHS management and the incompetence of doctors, but she loves the job and wouldn't want to do anything else.
Does anyone else have a similar vocation? Are you in the job you always dreamed of?

I'm with your missus
but the real tragedy of the NHS is that will look at numbers rather than patients - to the extent that patients are referred to as 'service users' or 'clients'. Both stick in my throat.

At the end of the day (it becomes night), individuals are not the real consideration, numbers on charts are. Money spent is more important than individuals, & it pisses me right off (did you guess?).

Job satisfacton is rapidly going down the fuckin tubes as there is a distinct lack of essential equipment & freedom (legal-wise) to actually do the fuckin job. There's also a 'culture of blame' when things do go tits-up, that inevitably means the most junior person involved will be the obvious scapegoat.

For the most part, I enjoy the job - when it's good, it's great. When it's bad, it's a fucken travesty

So in answer to your question, my problem is not with the doctors (they are set right by nurses on an hourly basis), but definitely with the management/suits.

Sorry that was a serious answer, I understand that is not allowed on B3ta, is it. Apologies etc.
