i think she was just annoyedat how rubbish they were, or maybe she just said that as a cover up and there is some other reason she never wanted to tell me... maybe she just fobbed me off with 'the war' as a way to keep me quiet... hmmm.... may have to have a word with the old dear, you may have uncovered something here...
But in all fairness, the french are still pretty rubbish.
