This is a question Racist grandparents

It Came From Planet Aylia says: "My husband's mad Auntie Joan accused the man seven doors down of stealing her milk as he was the first black neighbour she had. She doesn't even get her milk delivered." Tell us about casual racism from oldies.

Thanks to Brayn Dedd who suggested this too

Now we see the violence inherent in the system!

I say this often,
but this one really isn't entertaining at all.

Part of the problem is 90% of the stories are heresay, so they either are made up, or embelished to the point that they make no sense.

Other than that, it's just an excuse for people to write the word nigger, and not get mobbed.
(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 17:34, closed)
There is a degree of that
But there are a lot of genuinely funny stories that aren't hateful that contain that bemused us & them attitude the old uns have

Any QOTW will have a bunch of cunts posting answers that are crap & wide of the mark. It's the internet try not to get too angry or you'll be Leglessised

racist cuntery is racist cuntery, internet or not. It's really disappointing to see this shit here.

for once
I agree with Janet. Does this mean the world will end in Firey oblivion?
(, Fri 28 Oct 2011, 13:17, closed)
no really
It's just an opinion but some of the stories are not racist they tell of racism. The point of the laugh is the racist not what the racist said.

Like Alf Garnet & Rigsby

There's too much plain old racist views and jokes, it's got my dander up

(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 17:59, closed)
Well I think you should put it down again, old bean.

(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 18:02, closed)
Nope, I'm sticking with self righteous indignation for a while at least.

(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 18:05, closed)
I'm with you on this
I'm finding a lot fo these stories a bit uncomfortable to read.

But I'm reading them. I think my discomfort is that I can't think of a story to add that isn't simply a badly disguised racist joke. So I'm not going there.

Cuntsocks.

Do be sure to post about how much you hate the current QOTW before you do
I'm sure everyone else would be thrilled to hear your self-righteous moaning
(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 18:44, closed)
nigga, PLEASE.

(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 18:58, closed)
Theres no pleasing you Ringo.
You moan about people trolling and taking the piss on QOTW, then when one comes along that people are actually contributing to and you take the side of the one person moaning and bitching and moan how shit it is.

Alf Garnet - spot on
This QOTW is certainly edgy, but that is what you expect of B3TA. You also expect that there is a certain level of irony and self awareness of the people who post on here, enough that it does not go over the edge.
You could laugh at Alf in one of two ways, either as a naive co-conspirator or with an awareness of human frailty. Grandparents are often quite transparent in their views, which makes them an ideal source of humour.
So read the quotes as ironic and learn of a few more people to ignore.

B3TA - courageous QOTW, well done, but not to many more like these please.

Speaking as one with a low tolerance of Hilarious Ironic Internet Racism, there is very little genuine prickery going on.
It certainly there, but it's mostly 'look at my daft old nan'.

I've even had a genuine tale to post this week too.
(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 20:50, closed)
You mean like you just did?
MOB THE RACIST!
(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 18:45, closed)
If you're taking ' 90% of the stories are heresay, so they either are made up, or embelished to the point that they make no sense' line as a reason to close the story, you might as well close QOTW for good.
Or y'know, we could have another week of people posting about famous people they'd like to fuck and consumer electronics they've bought.
(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 20:37, closed)
fuck off please

(, Thu 27 Oct 2011, 20:54, closed)
A MOD WRITES: I've asked Rob for his opinion...
...but you should know what you're getting into when you visit B3TA.

Everybody else: DON'T BE A DICK

People like to find humour in bad things. It makes them nicer.
Hiding them away makes them worse. At least humour can turn bad things into not so bad things. Laughing at the stories here shows how we've moved on. Nobody agrees with them. It's marvelling at different times, the same way that people marvel at the medicines they used to have (cocaine for a kid's toothache, etc) where bad things were standard and now nobody gets it. At least not nice people anyway.

If there was no humour and everyone was just agreeing THAT would be a good time to complain.
