This is a question Rubbish Towns

I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

Aren't Spanky and Pooflake
from Coventry?

That place has gotta be weird as fuck.

Actually
Coventry should be European city of culture.

There's shitloads of mold growing every-fucking-where.

Oh, and Captain Placid's from this glorious concrete shithole too.

You're right...

I've never been so tempted as to put a bog-standard 'nuff said' post as I am right now...

I will resist the urge...however I fear that this QotW will be pappered with an obscene amount of 'nuff said' posts this week.

*crosses fingers and hopes to be wrong*

I spent christmas in Coventry
Me and the lady decided to fuck to a hotel for the break.

The hotel was alright, and was a good half hour walk from the city centre. For which we were very grateful after venturing there for a bit of last minute shopping.

The dictionary definition of concrete monstrosity

Have we ever actually met???
In a pub-type situation???

I doubt it as it was about 20 odd years ago.
You were probably still in nappies : P

Hmmmmm....
Twenty years ago. I'd have been 14. No - my question still stands. We ever meet up in a pub situation???

Am on year 6 myself at the moment.
I also work on Warwick Uni campus, now there is false advertising if ever I've seen it. Come to Warwick Uni, right bang slap in the middle of.....................Coventry!

Really???
They say that??? Fuck me... Bit of a long walk you've got there. But look on the bright side, at least its not in the centre of Coventry...
(, Thu 29 Oct 2009, 17:30, closed)
Nah.
I meant that it's called Warwick Uni but in reality it's in Coventry. Slight exaggeration on my part. :)

Still, I don't mind Cov that much. It's better than my home town of Wigan, or Bolton were I used to work.

I'm
a Warwick Postgrad, and I approve of this message.

Of course, I'm originally from Lancashire, so anything makes a change from hills and sheep.

I
went to University there, twitches.

In fact I used to send newspaper clippings of all the murders and rapes and beatings, whereas my parents, who lived in Saffron Walden at the time sent me newspaper clippings of stories of cats stuck up trees, old people who had fallen over and huge arguments about potential new bus stops which was all that ever happened there

Spent a year and a half
working there.

The only places where I've had "Can you spare 10p mate" followed up with (after I said no) "What if I batter you?"

Glorious city.

I've had some good times there
the Golden Crosses was a decent pub as I remember, and I used to go to the student union (the Planet?)

It wasn't too bad

I got beaten up in Coventry
By 3 tossers about my age at the time, 18. When they had finished - they hadn't mugged me, or given me much of a kicking really - I asked them what the fuck that was all about - 'all I did was walk across the platform to change trains'. And his reply has intrigued me ever since;

"Yeah, we don't do it like that in Coventry"
