This is a question Rubbish Towns

I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

Town slogans I have found unrealistic
'Come to Life, Come to Telford!'

'People like us, like Crawley'

I also once remember seeing the Mayor of Stoke on Trent on Midlands News describing it as "A 21st Century, 24 Hour Party City"

ha ha
There's that bit in Twin Town where that guy (just to make it nice and vague) describes Swansea as a "Pretty Shitty City"... they should be more honest - unless Dr Frankenstein lives in Telford.

Rolleston!
Rolleston is a little suburb outside of Christchurch that is mainly known for its prison. The sign you see on your way in? "Rolleston - Town of the Future". I know our crime rate is bad, but jeez.

Now, Telford was built in the 1960's wasn't it?
Weren't they trying to set the record for the world's largest compost heap, or something?

Also, interesting fact, if you look at the parts of the country where the most murderers, child rapists or terrorists come from in the UK, you'll find that it is Crawley. I know this to be true because I just made it up.
