This is a question Rubbish Towns

I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

Back in the day
When I was a county standard swimmer, I had to travel all over the South of England competing. The worst place I ever went to was Edmonton in North London. Used needles in the bushes, an inch of filth on the bottom of the pool and a street gang who tried to smash up our coach with the driver still inside.

We had to go back next year too. Not good.

I currently live in Wester Hailes (highest rate of drug and knife crime in Edinburgh) and it's lovely and peaceful as I live bang opposite a police station.

Also, Luton is a shithole.

First mention of Luton so far
Good shout.

I agree about Luton, but why do you think it is a shithole?

I just want you to reinforce my own reasons. Still better than watford though.

I only ever go through Luton once a year on my way to somewhere else and every time I drive through on the way home I let out a little sigh of relief that I don't live in Luton. It's mostly the sheer scale of the concrete molding that puts me off, plus the titanic blot on the landscape that is the Vauxhall works.

Do you,
mean the A505? Used to drive through Dunstable before hitting Luton on my way to Cambridge many moons back. Dunstable rivals Luton as a fetid arse-sore on the rump of Bedfordshire.

But coming from the Cambridge direction myself. In fact, I head to Dunstable because I'm part of one of the display teams for the annual kite festival. I only really see the downs, which are quite nice.
