This is a question Rubbish Towns

I once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Thanks to SpankyHanky for the suggestion

Stoke on Trent
Went to Alton Towers with my girlfriend and her mates, and stayed in a hotel in stoke. We arrived pretty exhausted, and the first thing the concierge told us was that we should avoid going out after 7 if we didn't want "stabbed or sumfink." I've never been in a more hostile place... No one smiles, they just wander around aimlessly, and staring at you as if you just defecated into their grannie's ashes before feeding it to the dog. It is the only place in the world I have ever been driven AT, on a quite regular basis. The entire town is coated with a thick film of soot and grime, and people seem to actually go out of their way to be nasty or unhelpful. It has only 2 redeeming features: 1, it isn't Dundee, and 2, it has quite possibly the best car wash sign ever, proudly claiming to give "the best handjobs in town."

I've been composing my Stoke rant all night.
Hopefully by the end of the day I'll have honed it into something suitably scathing.

indeed
it's truly horiffic. too much stuff to remember... some of my mates had to use the buses to get to alton towers (not enough room in my car, i felt terrible) and got abuse and followed all the way back to the hotel. gave lifts and picked up from bus stops after that.

I had to live in this shit-hole for 3 years whilst at university. It truly is one of the skankiest places in the world. The first week we were there we were advised not to head into town because of a small race riot. Many friends of mine got mugged or robbed. I saw houses and cars being set on fire. The amount of times we were physically threatened or abused is ridiculous. The whole place should be burned to the ground.

Weird
This is about the fourth post I've seen saying how violent, unfriendly and hostile Stoke is. Yet I've lived here all my life, and haven't been in a fight of any sort since I was 8, or had trouble of any kind whatsoever here. It's a shithole, no doubt, but as shitholes go, it's a pretty friendly and down-to-earth one.

Maybe all you out-of-towners are just antagonising us?
