Peter - Fucking - Billing

Please, please, please...

Does anybody have the Panini football sticker from 1989 of the squinty-eyed, greasy haired, Coventry City donkey extraordinaire, Peter Billing???

I need it to complete my collection.

You can gladly have all of my worldly possessions in return.

And a kidney.

You can even have a go on my girlfriend.

Or on me, if you'd prefer...

Thank you.

I have the Euro 96 one, semi-complete.

The Portugeuse goalie with the afro called QUIM always makes me smile.

Oh and Germanys Stefen Kuntz as well.

Wasn't it Kuntz that equalised against England in the semi-final?
I seem to remember the (english) commentator just shouting "Kuntz!"

I had that..!

I became obsessed with those fucking football stickers. Seriously.obsessed.

It started with EspaƱa (fucking) 82 and escalated to such a degree that I had to have controlled rations.

The fucking things robbed me of a lump of my childhood - they were in my dreams...and my every waking thought.

Thank you for reminding me...off I go back to therapy...

But first I'll try and find the elusive 'Kenny Dalglish player / manager sticker.

The best ones were
the foil club badges...

They were awsome...

I went without food for months, spending dinner money in the shop on these damn stickers instead of getting some nourishment...

I very nearly wasted away.

Playground mantra:

NEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!!

Settle an argument: did you call them shinies or foils?

Foils....
And a common one at my school was:

"You dont even need John Barnes, you cunt!!!"

And it was the only time in history Mr Peter Billing would've been worth more than the entire Liverpool team.

(I should know, I endured enough of him at Highfield Road... that fella needed someone to put a bell in the ball so he knew where he should run)...
(, Wed 4 Feb 2009, 17:13, closed)
Of course he was wank...

If he displayed any talent whatsoever we would have sold him quicker than shit through a goose...

*mourns loss of Jay Tabb...and every other player who knew how to kick a ball...and so were promptly flogged for next-to-fuck all whilst we languish in the mire of fucking mid-table obscurity...only to survive fucking relegation on the LAST.FUCKING.DAY.OF.EVERY.CUNTING.SEASON*

annnnnnnnd....breathe.

Its a bitch...
...you want to try living within the shadows of Arsenal's ground...

When I tell people I support the Sky Blues, they look at me with a look of pity... One time someone even squeezed my shoulder and said:

"Oh, well - nevermind..."
(, Wed 4 Feb 2009, 17:24, closed)
Similar...
I was actually born and brought up in Birmingham, it being my dad's pernicious influence which led to me supporting the Sky Blues.

On the up side, I used to get all the spare Coventry City Panini stickers that the lads didn't want, cos they felt sorry for me (I was only allowed to buy one pack a week, or something, and I was a girl).

On the down side, much mickey taking took place, ranging from the usual, 'your team are shit' taunts, to cleverer stuff which I can't remember at this time of night.

Another thing - you're not alone down there - my sister supports the mighty Cov and lives in the shadow of Arsenal's ground too.

'Shinies' for me...

mmmm thinking of the World / FA cup shinies still give me wood to this day...

and the 3 inch thick pile of cards that I traded to get them...
(, Wed 4 Feb 2009, 17:14, closed)
we
called them badges. Even if they weren't
(, Wed 4 Feb 2009, 19:50, closed)
I started with Mexico '86
In my neck of the woods we called them 'silvers'.
(, Wed 4 Feb 2009, 17:19, closed)
Ahh, the Mexico 86 collection...
those were the ones with the razor sharp edges...

caused many a bleeding, wailing child to run round my playground like a fucking mentalist, those ones did...

Thanks, buddy...
Better let the girlfriend know I'm planning on pimping her out for a bit. I'm sure she'll understand.

Forget the girlfriend
I think I will take the Kidney, thanks.

Looks like I live around the corner from you, so will pick it up on the way home from work..

One of my mates...
...couldn't kick the habit, and was still swapping them with the neighbourhood kids at the ripe old age of 18.

I remember another guy whose older brother used to work in WHSmith, and managed to steal a whole BOX of stickers. It was amazing at the time.
(, Thu 5 Feb 2009, 8:25, closed)
Amazing at the time?
It'd be amazing now!!!
(, Thu 5 Feb 2009, 9:14, closed)
Haha
in 2004 in a dusty convention hall in Croydon, I finally achieved it. I proudly peeled the back off and stuck in the last sticker I needed in my Panini Transformers album.

Only took me, like, eighteen fucking years :/

I had the Short Circuit sticker collection...
...to this day the sight of Ally Sheedy in a tight sweater makes be go all weak...

...I remember sticking one of my spares on my headboard and wanking furiously over her for a few weeks...
