Never understood the dismissal of people who self harm as "attention seeking" - I mean, if being done in a way that seeks to draw attention to it, is that not by definition the act of someone who isn't mentally quite right? And that by extension the "attention seeking" is just that, as in wanting help?
If I was working in a school and I realised a pupil was self harming, suspending them would not even be something I would consider for a second. Counselling, worrying about the kid's family life etc, but disciplinary action just seems weird. Sorry for lack of humourous response, but surprised by the reactions to the initial post

Yes, yes, very funny. I can see that mentioning self harm on an Internet forum or something can be dismissed as attention seeking and doesn't really warrant sympathy, but on the subject of the original post, that's fucking bizarre, innit, to suspend someone for cutting themselves or whatever they did

Self-harm is a broad church
and since he doesn't elaborate, and this is QOTW, I think it's only fair to assume he scratched his forearm with a compass and shouted "Look everyone, I just TOTALLY tried to kill myself."
