The usual theorysays that all those things can be attributed more easily to better nutrition.
This is supported by looking at places like China (and comparing people in cities to rural areas) and comparing North and South Korea to each other (South Koreans are much taller and they're the ones who get to eat properly).
That theory is also less depressing than yours, because it means that these things will happen despite hideous chavs breeding like rabbits. :)
