If you are thinand the seat is up and you don't check before you sit down you will fall into the toilet. This is NOT fun.

THIS x 10000000My god, the amount of times I've gone to pee while drunk and the seat's been up. It feels like you're about to fall off the edge of the world. Best feeling I can liken it to is when you suddenly wake up in bed after a falling dream.
As for the subject at hand, I don't care if a guy leaves it up, I'll put it back down. They leave it up, I leave it down, it's just another thing to be fought over in the war of the sexes... :)
