This is a question Shops and Supermarkets

I used to work in a supermarket where the girl on the deli counter cut off the top of her finger in the meat slicer, but was made to finish her shift before going to hospital. You can now pay £100 to shoot zombies in the store's empty shell, haunted by poor dead nine-finger deli girl. Tell us your tales of the old retail experience, from either side of the counter

"How much is this?"
Turns around product to show price tag. "Oh..."

"Are these the only ones you have?" No, follow me to the secret room where we store the 'Other ones'.

the "secret room"
also known as the stock room?

^This^
We used to have loads of other sizes etc. in our stock room when I worked in Burton when I was a Saturday gimp. Seems a reasonable question to me.

I agree it's a bit
of a borderline moan, but I have always had the unshakeable feeling that all shops are only displaying 3% of their stock at any one time.

I do have a mental image of the place beyond the 'staff only' door being something like that place at the end of the Indiana Jones film, rows upon rows of mile long 100m high shelves packed with the stuff I want, in the correct size.

I may be mistaken though.

I think sometimes busy shops don't always replenish stock as quickly as they would at other times.
If I'm looking for something in a certain colour (for example) I don't see any reason to not ask. After all, at the very least its an opportunity for sales staff to say no, but that they do have something else in the desired colour. Easy way for them to gain a sale and for me to be happy.

Most of the time they just grunt and go back to having a chat with their mate.

Oh you forgot,
'what colour is this?'

I've asked shop assistants that.
But then, I'm red/green colourblind.
