Personally, I've never ever smoked a cigarette. Lung damage from pneumonia put me off.

parental advisoryMy sister, when about ten years old, stole a cigarette from my dad and sneakily smoked it.
How did he react? He made her sit down and smoke another, in front of him. She protested. She screeched. She cried a lot. And coughed. And may have been sick.
Did this teach her a lesson? Did it fuck. She smokes 20 a day and when she's not on the fegs she's skinning up.
