Personally, I've never ever smoked a cigarette. Lung damage from pneumonia put me off.

@bearpookieI play in a band. It's not my main job, but it accounts for a significant proportion of my income. Up until 2 years ago, almost every venue I played was filled with smoke. No-one is forcing me to do this as you say, but surely I shouldn't have to inhale other folk's smoke if I don't want to?
Since the smoking ban (and I'm in Scotland so it came in earlier) I no longer have to suffer the stinking clothes and sore throats I used to after a night at a gig.
I've no objection to people enjoying a smoke, so long as they don't do it in my presence.
