Half a dozen
is not really out of usage though is it. Still fairly common to hear it. I think more of these show how kids today really just don't listen to what goes on around them. If it doesn't directly effect them then they have absolutely no interest.

Surely a baker's dozen plus the number of pennyweights in an ounce less the quantity of pecks in one whole bushel, would be the better way of and should be how all British children are taught to count.
